Mercado Municipal. Protected as a national monument, the Mercado Municipal (Municipal Market) in Manaus stands on the bank of the Rio Negro, between the Floating Quay and the Igarapé dos Educandos. With its iron framework, made in Gustave Eiffel's Paris workshop, and stained glass windows, it is modeled after the famous Les Halles in Paris. Built during the rubber boom, the Municipal Market is a fest for the senses, selling a great variety of regional products such as fresh Amazon fish, fruits, maioc flour and local and native handicrafts.
